The Asus Eee PC’s designer seashell edition from the Karim Rashid collection was created for women who appreciate aesthetics and are into designer gadgets. At just one inch thick and weighing 1.1kg, the netbook is encased in a techno-chic organic “digi-wave” rippling design, which comes in Hot Pink and Coffee Brown.

The netbook has a 10.1-inch frameless LED backlight screen, with a resolution of 1 024 x 600 pixels, which is ideal for a portable mobile work solution. Dimensions are 262mm (W) x 180mm (D) x 26.2mm (H). All models come with Windows 7 Starter edition. Read more…

The following is my list of top 5 gadgets for 2009. Please note that this list has been drawn up from gadgets that I’ve had access to and played with.
5. Rubik’s 360

You might think twice about buying the metallic pink Sony Vaio netbook, especially if you prefer regular (non-girly) gadgets. The very feminine Vaio W Series is Sony’s attempt at breaking into the netbook market. Thankfully, the netbook is also available in brown and white.
Carrying the device around is no hassle, as it’s lightweight at 1.19kg. With dimensions of 179.6mm x 32.4mm x 267.8mm, it could easily fit into a big handbag. The netbook has a smooth finish, with rounded edges, giving it a stylish look.
It comes standard with Windows XP, wireless, webcam and microphone and VGA Out. What we really liked about it is the crisp 10.1-inch LED-backlit screen with a 1 366 x 768 resolution. This netbook, unfortunately, does not support high definition playback. We were disappointed by the quality of the sound from the built-in speakers, located beneath the keypad. A set of portable speakers or earphones on hand will make listening to audio more bearable. Read more…

Good news! If you’re a fan of Skullcandy and Paul Frank as I am, you’d be just as excited to know that we, third world South Africa, will be getting the Ink’d line of these cool earphones next month. But, we wont be getting the Hesh line. This is according to Luks Brands, Africa’s sole distributor of Skullcandy.

I’ve got my eye on the blue Julius pair

When I found out that Dion Wired was having a special on their Samsung 24″ HD monitor – I thought it was an excellent deal at R1699 (normal price R2999 – special ends 6/9/09). I wanted it, I had the money but I couldn’t justify buying it because I had bought another Samsung 19″ monitor in February this year.
While my colleagues and I were discussing what a cool monitor it is especially at that price, I said, “if I could sell my current monitor then I’d buy this one”. To my surprise Patricia said she’ll buy it! So after calling Dion Wired for three days, checking for stock, I managed to get it yesterday.
