Volvo V60 launch

Volvo invited me to the V60 sport wagon launch held in Cape Town yesterday. Now I know what you’re thinking. Wagon’s aren’t exactly known for their looks, but Volvo actually put effort into making the wagon look good.

LG Blogger Forum 2010

LG South Africa invited me to attend the LG Blogger Forum 2010, held in Berlin. It was a group of about 24 of us from South America, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa. The Africa quota was filled by 1 South African; me.

Chevrolet Spark Launch

I was invited to the Chevrolet Spark media launch in Cape Town on Thursday, 22 July. General Motors decided to do something different and invite “influential social media folks”, people who weren’t necessarily motoring journalists; and so my name was put forward.

When we arrived in Cape Town (there was a large group of us from Johannesburg), we were told to choose a car from the fleet, get into groups of four and self-drive to a warehouse in Brackenfell. Read more…

Amazing Cape

Yesterday was one of the best days of my working career (it was also the first time I found myself on the highway at 06h20)!

All thanks to Nokia, who flew ten Johannesburg-based journos down to their Cape Town event to meet the “masterminds” behind Ovi Maps (NAVTEQ), show us the behind-the-scenes of building the mapping database, let us see the N97 mini in the flesh and the highlight – letting us participate in a mini Amazing Race.

We were put into teams of four and sent off in BMW’s and Audi’s, using the Nokia N97 mini as a GPS. I was lucky enough to be in a team of 3 locals, who knew what the clues meant. Read more…
