IFA2015

Today IFA officially opened, this means the media days (2-3 September) were over and all stands were ready for visitors, media, analysts, etc to check out. A lot of the products on display were just announced a couple of days ago, and included some prototypes. In case you were wondering why I attended, Lenovo South Africa invited me to hear more about their exciting announcements (and to experience their products first hand). (PS they’ve been fantastic hosts).

Today involved a lot of walking. The exhibition is HUGE. Walking from North all the way to the South was quite tiring, and I didn’t get to see every hall; it would’ve been impossible.

So anyway, I’ve put together a gallery of some of the stuff that caught my eye. In no order, they are…

MyKronoz ZePhone is a standalone smartwatch that takes a SIM card and lets you make calls straight from it, without pairing to a smartphone. It runs Android:

Huawei’s new flagship, the Mate S, doubles up a lightweight scale:

Acer showed of its most powerful gaming laptops, the Predator line, which runs on 6th-generation Intel Core i7 processors:

Lenovo announced the new sleek Moto 360 smartwatch, with narrow bezel, and customizable bands:

The impressive Wacom Bamboo Spark is a notepad that converts your writing straight into a digital format (pdf, email), for Android and iOS. Retails for €159:

Samsung’s new Gear S2 smartwatch (Tizen OS) boasts a sleek interface and rotating bezel to for easy navigation:

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact range of smartphones also come in a variety of shades to suit all types:

Panasonic showed off a personal kitchen screen concept that is attached to your fridge and shows nutritional information on what’s inside:

TomTom’s Cardio + Music lets you store over 500 songs on the fitness watch, with audio feedback on multisport mode:

There were so many other products but I couldn’t post them all here! There were loads of mobile covers and accessories… some didn’t even have a release date or pricing (disappointingly).
