GoBeauty-logoGoBeauty, a previous standalone app, has now launched on the WeChat platform.

They are targeting the busy, post-modern, tech savvy women, including moms who prefer getting things done on-the-go.

Tatjana Mihajlov-Pilbeam of GoBeauty describes the service as a remote control to your beauty.

She went on to explain a scenario that’s all too familiar to me – you pick up the phone, make that call only for it to be engaged, or you’re put on hold, and then the lengthy back and forth of dates and times available. I personally hate speaking on the phone (my absolute last resort) so I can appreciate the service. To cut out all this, basically a waste of time, GoBeauty simplifies the process by booking over WeChat/texting.

Some of the services you can book through GoBeautySA on WeChat include spa treatments, make-up, getting your hair done at salons, etc. You can view places near you through the map view, or list by service type, and of course, supports real-time booking, once you’ve found something.

Here’s a quick run-down on how to make use of the service:
1. You need to have the WeChat app installed (Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Windows Phone, Nokia).
2. Search for the “GoBeautySA” account and add it to your contacts:

3. Once successful, you will get a welcome message.
4. At the bottom, you will see the “BeautyMap” and “BeautyChat” options. To search you can use the map or list by type of treatment.

5. Choose the salon/spa/service and you will see contact details, etc.
6. Tap on “more info” and you will see a booking form with idea date, time and treatment category.
7. Once you fill in your details, just hit “request call back” to send your booking request.
8. Wait to hear back!

It really is as simple as that. I can’t wait to test the service, possibly for a spa treatment. Also, I hope to see more places listed on the app.

If you are in a hurry, and need to make a booking immediately, you can do this by choosing a salon or spa that offers this feature. It is indicated by a power button icon, which means there is a real-time booking function available to you. As Tatjana explains this icon is affected by load shedding so you will see it come and go. When you choose a salon with a power button, you can immediately choose a treatment type, therapist available (optional) and time. This method means your booking is confirmed, you won’t get a call to discuss it but you will get an automatic confirmation.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You have your own trusted beautician and you won’t just trust anyone else etc.. but GoBeauty steps in for a situation where you need a last minute service like a blow-wave, or quick mani etc before an event, as Tatjana explained. That’s why they are targeting busy women. If you need to find a service on short notice, GoBeauty aims to fill that gap.
