Knomo has set a high standard when it comes to good quality laptop, tablet and smartphone bags. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of their products and was thrilled to receive a 13″ Alfie laptop bag and the Colville smartphone purse to review from their new range.
Both bag and wallet have a diamond quilted double stitched exterior, giving it an interesting look and feel compared to the standard cases and bags that are available. Which are mostly fugly.
The 13″ Alfie I’m using is a slimline laptop briefcase in a colour called Black Cherry. The pictures don’t quite capture its true purple shade, and makes it look more pink, which it’s not.
It’s lightweight and has minimal pockets – it has the main laptop compartment and a deep front pocket that will fit a 5″ handset. It fits a MacBook Pro comfortably but there is room with a MacBook Air due to its shape.
It has a solid handle and comes with detachable adjustable straps – in the same purple shade. It’s long enough to use it cross body style if you want. It’s cushioned on the inside to protect your laptop from getting knocked or bumped around.
The pic above, the one on the extreme right is closest to what the colour actually looks like. In the short time I’ve been using it, I already received comments on its looks – Knomo bags always stand out.
It doesn’t have room for a charger, I usually just charge my laptop before an event and take it as is in the bag, because I’m done before the battery runs out.

The other Knomo product I’ve been using is the Colville smartphone wristlet purse. I’ve been looking for a phone wallet for more than a year and everything I’ve seen didn’t look that great – the Typo ones looked poorly made and scruffy before leaving the store. The Forever New range is alright, a bit too blingy.
The reason I like the Knomo one is because it’s understated and great for taking to events. Sometimes I don’t want to lug a big handbag, especially if it’s a formal sit down thing. The purse has the same luxurious look and feel you’d expect from Knomo, with double stitching.
It fits up to a 5-inch handset that’s not too bulky – as you can see from the image above, on the compartment appearing below. It also has slots for a few bank cards and coins, and tissues. You cannot fit a set of keys inside, unless it’s compact and not attached to a keyring. The wrist strap makes it easier to hold when walking.
The wristlet purse isn’t meant to use be used every day – just for when you just need your phone and bank cards when going out; great for a concert too.
Both the Knomo Alfie laptop case and Colville purse are available from the iStore.
Alfie – R899
Colville – Approximately R640 (based on $60 conversion)
