It’s been a busy couple of months of traveling. Last week I found myself in Ghana to check out Google’s AI Research Centre and see what solutions were made for Africa. I found it insightful as we don’t often hear AI stories from an African context. I covered the important bits in my article, which gives you a glimpse into what’s going on there.

You can read about that, plus my highlight - the Project Relate app that is helping those with non-standard speech communicate more effectively. The app is useful for people with autism, post-stroke patients, those who stammer; and then those with Cerebral palsy, Down’s Syndrome, and Parkinson’s disease. More here:

On a slightly different health related topic, I recently published a review on the NexRing smart ring. There will never be a shortage of smartphone updates, no matter the time of year. In the last couple of weeks, my review of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra went live; I found some of the on-device AI features to be hit and miss.
