Tech Things is back! A week late as I was 10 hours behind SA in California last week, as a guest of Samsung for the Galaxy S24 launch. It didn’t make sense to send an update before the news came out. However, I did make a cool TikTok highlighting my top 5 AI features.
If you’re due for an upgrade, the new S24 series should intrigue you with its on-device generative AI features, a first in the mobile space! I cannot wait to get my hands on a review unit and spend more time with it. I published a handy spec-by-spec comparison of all three devices, and my reasons on why you should consider each model. While on holiday abroad over the festive period, I purchased a new gadget… the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses! It has a 12MP camera, mics, speakers, storage, touch controls and access to Meta AI to answer questions. A computer for your face, really. It was $316 odd, which worked out to just under R6 000 with sales tax. I haven’t yet used it properly to decide if it was worth it. Stay tuned.

I’m so excited for the upcoming Showmax relaunch. You get access to Universal Pictures, NBC, Peacock, Sky, Dreamworks, BBC, HBO, ITV, Lionsgate, Paramount, Sony, etc.. all under one umbrella and price point. Is this the next big thing in the streaming world? It gets pricey to subscribe to everything when you can’t share access with family. Oh, if you’re interested in streaming the Premier League, you’re in for a treat! Prices and plans were announced in January:
