It’s been a busy August, I’ve been home for less than two weeks this month, but I’ve been sharing a bunch of travel tips that may help you. The first is the 10 Things I Packed for a Summer Holiday, for temperatures over 35°C, which is different to my usual business travel. It has things like a colour-changing SPF50, a universal diffuser for my travel hair dryer, sachets of electrolytes, etc. Bonus content: my China Travel Tech List, if you’re going there.
I also had peace of mind in Rome knowing my devices were insured due to its notorious pickpocketing issue, so I share how to blacklist your phone if it gets stolen. It includes details for all the major networks and tips from the Naked blog on ways to protect yourself.

On another important travel safety note, Uber South Africa now offers a “Women Drivers” option. It’s specific for women only, so if there’s a man with you, the driver has a right to cancel the ride. I’m wary of using Uber to the airport for late flights, I use Secure Express for those but it should bring peace of mind for women in SA.
This newsletter unintentionally became a travel edition. Air France recently introduced a fast track option for short layovers. As one of the major gateways to Europe, it is handy for business travel, which gets activated automatically, regardless of fare class. I experience this anxiety on my trips to Barcelona, so heads-up if you want a solution (and to avoid any German airport).
Still on the topic of airlines but closer to home, FlySafair will be introducing flights from Lanseria to the Eastern Cape (East London and Gqeberha) from 1 November. It’s also introducing flights from CT to Hoedspruit, and increasing the number of flights to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.
And if you’re heading to Comic Con Africa in Johannesburg this week, check out what to pack in your (Cosplay) bag. There’s also another major event taking place this week: the Festival of Motoring. We’re expecting cool cars, EVs, track experiences and family fun. Stay tuned for updates.
