My 15-month-old website Recharged has just celebrated a new record traffic month, smashing all previous ones by far, and I cannot be more proud of its growth. It’s not easy being a small online publication amongst the long standing media giants. But I’m happy with my steady growth, long time supporters, including fresh new faces, and support from the tech industry - the brands who believed in me before I went live and signed on do to paid work.
And on that note, I’m excited to introduce my newest team member, amongst my small pool of freelance writers: SuperCharged AI. This bot reporter will be leveraging chatGPT for certain kind of reporting, with full credit going to the original source and editing by a human before being published. Recharged strives to be accurate and transparent at all times. Here’s our first AI generated article:
I recently published an article about Vodacom’s new Mobicel-branded 4G smartphone that costs R249. It offers a ‘smartphone lite’ experience, by offering cloud apps for accessing Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, etc. I got my hands on the device and was very surprised to see it does not have WiFi support. I returned from Germany this weekend after being hosted by Xiaomi South Africa for its international launch for the 14T Series. Very exciting news: it introduces Google’s Gemini and a host of other AI features, including Circle to Search, which is now available beyond Samsung and Pixels phones. Xiaomi SA also tells me it will be ‘competitively priced’, which will be revealed at the local launch on 7 October.
