It’s hard to believe another year has flown by. As we head into the holidays, we are constantly reminded that load-shedding is still part of our lives, 15 years later. It doesn’t help that Eskom continues to gaslight us. In light of the current heat wave and excessive load-shedding slots, EcoFlow has generously sponsored a River 2 portable power station for this giveaway to one lucky Tech Things subscriber.
All you have to do is answer a simple question in the competition post and I’ll randomly select a winner on Monday, 11 December. Good luck!
On the topic of power, I recently published a one month review of the Power4Less IHP Geyser. This smart geyser is more efficient than a traditional one because it has an app that lets you schedule when it operates, which reduces your consumption, and subsequently, electricity bill. I’ve detailed the process from pre-installation to one month in, though I have to add that using my air-conditioner during this heat wave really messed things up. I will be sharing a 6- and 12-month update next year. It’s a long read, but let me know if you have any questions.
As we head into the holiday season, I cannot stress the important of getting your digital life admin sorted. You only really feel it when you lose your precious data. To avoid that, and in light of Google Drive files vanishing into thin air, please consider creating a backup (for your backup). I personally make use of at least four cloud services. If you’re not sure where to begin, all the deets here:
I attended my last car launch for the year recently in Cape Town, for the much talked about Ford Puma. It costs over half a million rand for the base model and goes over the R600k mark for the high-end derivative. Have you seen this latest compact SUV, and what do you think? https://www.recharged.co.za/launch-drive-ford-puma/
If you’re looking for last minute holiday deals, you may receive discounts through your bank. I’ve covered how to book flights on Discovery Bank here and my eBucks highlights for 2023/4 here (sponsored post). It highlights most things travel. If you’re traveling abroad, the Airalo eSIM is a must, which covers data, calls and texts + get $3 credit when you sign-up using my referral code.
