Reed Exhibitions Africa has announced that Emmy award-winning actor William Shatner will head to Comic Con Africa in September 2019. The acclaimed Canadian actor, director, author, producer and singer needs no introduction. Fans know him for his portrayal of the iconic Captain James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek franchise, Denny Crane in The Practice and its spin-off Boston Legal, Rescue 911 and 3rd Rock from the Sun, to name a few.
I actually came across the news via Twitter and received the press release shortly after. Other international stars visiting include Isaac Hempstead Wright, aka Bran from Game of Thrones; and Anthony Mackie aka Falcon in the MCU. There will also be a bunch of comic book artists, gaming guests, and cosplayers. Full list can be found here.
South Africa! I’ll be in your neck of the woods at Africa Comic Con on September 21-23 in Johannesburg at the Gallagher Convention Centre!

I attended the inaugural event last year at Kyalami racecourse and wasn’t too thrilled about the setup and having to walk up and down. I assume Reed Exhibitions took this into account – along with the overwhelming tickets sales (sold out BEFORE the event, apparently rare for a brand new location), and moved the venue to Gallagher in Midrand.
Last year, leading up to the days before the event, I had a lot of queries from friends and followers asking me how to get tickets. Alas, I can’t pull any strings so my best advice to you is to buy your tickets early. You are probably unlikely to get them on the day that you decide to go.
Anyway, my 2019 Comic-Con ‘dilemma’ is who to dress up as! Last year I went as your everyday superhero Jessica Jones.
Diarise Comic-Con Africa 2019 dates and buy your tickets ASAP!
