10 things about me

1. I’m an ex Durbanite living in Johannesburg.

2. I got married three months after turning 21.

3. I met my husband online unintentionally (IRC).

4. I lived in Cardiff (Wales) on a working holiday to the UK after getting married. (Sometimes I wonder if returning was a good idea or not. Can you blame me?).

5. I used to hate cooking and baking when I was younger (I was closer to my dad’s toolbox than my mom’s kitchen). Now, I’m the queen of my kitchen – stay away from it.

6. I cant tolerate dishonest, two-faced, shallow beings.

7. I don’t make friends easily.

8. Sometimes my shyness is mistaken for arrogance.

9. I love technology and the way it constantly evolves.

10. I have a lousy record of keeping plants alive.

My Blog

1. How long have you been blogging?
Since 2006, on various platforms. I started on Blogs24, then went to My Digital Life, then FoodBlogs24 and now my personal URL. In total, I’ve had 3 blogs on Blogs24 (general, food and travel), one on MyDL which still exists, two on wordpress.com (one is deleted and the other is dormant) and this one, which is most ‘active’. Twitter killed the blog star.

2. What made you start?
I realized I spent a lot of time on the Internet so I might as well start a blog. I used to read blogs before creating my own, I think a case with most people.

3. Who inspired you?
If I really had to choose, I’d say
Chris Roper. I decided after following his travels to the US in 2006 that I wanted to blog too.

4. About how many hours a week would you estimate you spend on your blog?
Less than an hour. I blog only when I have the time.

5. What kind of experience or background do you have with writing?
I don’t have any qualifications in journalism but I started off writing for the sports section in my school newsletter. I wrote for
Travelinfo (City Alerts) from 2005-2007, and I currently write for Digital Life magazine & My Digital Life website and cover events for ITWeb when needed.

6. Talk about how you come up with blog topics. Where do you get your ideas?
I don’t just think up ideas for my blog, I usually blog about something like a gadget, phone or something interesting.

7. What or who inspires you and your blog?
Gadgets? I blog when I have something to say. It could be twice a week or once in 3 weeks.

8. Where and/or how do your brainstorming for your blog?
Like I said earlier, I don’t think up ideas or brainstorm ideas. I don’t have the time for that. Hell, who does that?!

9. Do you have any blogging rules or guidelines you follow?
I try not to blog lengthy posts because I don’t want to bore the reader. Who wants to read a long drawn blog anyway? I usually get bored myself with those types of postings. I prefer keeping to the point and not waffling.

10. Is there anything you will not blog about?
I don’t blog about my personal life.

11. Do you have any sort of a publishing schedule in terms of day of week or topic?
Hahaa, no. Who does that?

Taken from the Sunday Stealing blog.
